COVID-19

June 2020. After a period of 'lockdown', the training centre is once again open for business. Covid-19 measures have been reinforced along NHS & UK Government guidlines and we currently limiting delegate numbers on training courses for added security.

Scheduled course dates (without any bookings) may be subject to change to meet the demand of our customers who have had their training postponed due to the lockdown restrictions. Whilst the website is regularly updated, we recommend that you contact us directly for any training course booking requirements.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

COVID-19

March 2020. In this period of uncertainty, we want to reassure all our customers that we are doing all we can to ensure the safety of delegates attending our training courses. We always have had strict hygiene procedures in place but given the current COVID-19 situation we have implemented further internal procedures;

  • NHS guidelines are reiterated during the introductions at the commencement of the training course.
  • All commonly touched surfaces, door handles etc. are disinfected at the end of each day.
  • All training desks, chairs, work benches, etc are disinfected after each training delegate has attended.
  • Hand sanitiser stations have been implemented in common locations throughout the training centre.

Due to the nature of the training courses we run, delegate numbers have always been kept low per course. However, we are sure you appreciate, some matters will be outside of our control and we ask all attendees to do their part.

Unless we are asked to close by the government, or new NHS guidelines, we will remain open for the delivery of all existing and future training courses. However, I fully understand that if any of our customers wish to postpone any planned training courses, we will do our utmost to reschedule to a mutually suitable date.

During this pandemic, our booking terms will allow for greater flexibility for those who have training courses already booked with us. We encourage our clients to contact us as soon as possible on 01928 898191 to make alternative arrangements in terms of postponement and rescheduling of future courses if required. However, failure to inform us of your intentions prior to a course running and anyone not attending will, unfortunately, result in full payment for those with existing bookings.

Should you wish to discuss your booking, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will endeavour to meet your requirements as well as we possibly can.

Credit Card Payments

January 2020. Due to the increase in demand, we now accept credit card payments for training course bookings.

Carrier Transicold UK Training Academy

Carrier Transicold has launched a Training Academy to help tackle the industry-wide issue around the high average age of technicians, by ensuring a regular flow of new talent into its service partner network.

An initial group of 12 apprentices embarked on a four year apprenticeship with Carrier Transicold in September 2015, and new candidates are enrolling year on year.

“We’re committed to training the next generation of Carrier Transicold technicians, while at the same time helping to put new recruits on an exciting career path,” said Andy Wainwright, service director, Carrier Transicold UK.

“Our first group got off to a flying start and their feedback on the first two week-long training modules has been fantastic, with satisfaction scores for the two courses averaging more than 96 per cent. We’re also getting great comments from our network service partners - each hugely impressed by the commitment and enthusiasm shown by their trainee technicians,” added Wainwright.

The apprentices will take part in five week-long training courses per year, which are split between Runcorn based 3T Services and Carrier Transicold North West in Liverpool. In between, each apprentice works closely alongside senior colleagues who will mentor them throughout the course at their respective service partner.

“3T Services Training Centre is proud to have assisted in the planning and continuing delivery of this ground-breaking training program”, David Luckett, Managing Director, 3T Services Limited.

Brexit ~ F-Gas is not going anywhere

Despite the outcome of the EU Referendum, the cooling industry will not see any change to the regulations covering the use of fluorinated refrigerant gases (F-Gas) or the requirement for training and refrigerant handling registration, according to experts.

While the original F-Gas Regulation (EC 517/2014) emanated from Brussels and was driven by the European Commission, it was transposed directly into UK law. Therefore, it is now part of the British legal system.

F-Gas Regulations relate to not only stationary equipment but also refrigerated trucks and trailers

Article 4 of the new F-Gas Regulations, EC Reg 517 states that operators of equipment that contain fluorinated gases in quantities of 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent or more, must have their equipment leak checked. For example: if the systems contain R404A, then 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent equates to 1.275kg of R404A. So if you operate, maintain or repair such equipment, from the 1st of January 2015 you will need to hold the necessary qualification, such as a City and Guilds 2079. It should be noted that equipment with less than 3Kg but more than 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent of refrigerant, will not have to be leak checked until the 1st January 2017. (The term ‘Refrigerated Truck’ means a motor vehicle with a mass of more than 3.5 tonnes that is designed and constructed primarily to carry goods and that is equipped with a refrigeration unit)

The updated regulations also increase the responsibility on the aforementioned operators with regard to record keeping, recovery and containment.

Fundraising

Managing Director of 3T Services Limted summited Mount Kilimanjaro on the 2nd October 2014 for charity.

Over the years 3T Services Limited has donated to worthy causes such as drug awareness campaigns at school and local hospital radio. Now we continue to raise money to support the Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign.

3T Services Ltd sponsored David Luckett to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on the 26th September 2014, ensuring that 100% of monies raised went directly to charity. David successfully reached the summit at 10:15hrs on the 02/10/2014, raising £2,500.00 in the process, which has now subsequently increased to over £3,800.00. Thank you for everyone's support and donations.

"Too few people, even in the medical profession, are aware of Barrett’s Oesophagus and its potential to lead to cancer of the gullet. Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign is constantly striving to increase knowledge among healthcare professionals and among the public. The more people who know about the condition the more lives can be saved."
  • Barrett’s Oesophagus is a major health issue yet its profile is very low.
  • It has the potential to lead to oesophageal cancer.
  • There is a dramatic increase in oesophageal cancer in the developed world.
  • It is now responsible for around five per cent of all cancer deaths, making it the fifth most common cause of cancer death.
  • Around 7,600 cases are diagnosed in the UK each year.
  • In 2005, 7,419 people died from the disease and the survival rate is one of the lowest of all cancers.
When Barrett’s is diagnosed early the symptoms can be treated and regular monitoring can help to prevent the condition developing into cancer.

So what is Barrett’s Oesophagus?

The acid and bile from the stomach can cause inflammation to the cells lining the oesophagus. If this happens over many years, these cells may start to change, becoming more like the cells that line the intestine. This is then called Barrett’s Oesophagus.

Acid and bile coming from the stomach into the oesophagus may cause heartburn.

The normal oesophagus (gullet or food pipe) is lined with a pinkish-white tissue called squamous epithelium. Barrett's Oesophagus is a clear precursor of oesophageal adenocarcinoma (AC) but because it is so under-diagnosed, patients with AC have not been aware of it. Barrett's oesophagus is a condition in which the normal squamous epithelium of the oesophagus has been replaced by an abnormal red columnar epithelium.

In the US it is referred to as esophageal cancer / cancer of the esophagus.
